FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long will the installation take?
Installation times vary based on system size. On average, a system can be installed in a single day, with an additional two to three business days needed for the city inspection and to finalize coverage.
  • What is a backflow prevention device?
A backflow prevention device is a valve that stops water from flowing backward into the city's main water supply, which helps prevent contamination. State law mandates that all irrigation systems must include a backflow prevention device, which will be part of your system. The specific type of device will be determined by your local city regulations. Additionally, you are required to have the device tested each year by a licensed backflow tester.
  • Will my water bill see a significant increase?
An irrigation system uses water more efficiently than hand watering or hose-end sprinklers. The impact on your bill will depend on your existing watering habits and requirements.
  • Do I have to get a permit or locate utilities?
No. Texas Roots will handle obtaining all necessary permits and locating utilities on your behalf. This service is included in your bid price.
  • Does Texas have Irrigation?
Yes, Texas features numerous irrigation canals, with the largest networks concentrated in the Rio Grande Valley and the Gulf Coast. Smaller systems are found throughout the state as well.
  • I have seen yards that already have automatic sprinklers and some of them still have dry spots, will I have this problem also?
Dry spots can result from various issues, including poor irrigation design, insufficient watering in sun-exposed areas, and incorrect spray head adjustments. To address this, we will install full coverage in all irrigated zones to eliminate such problems.
  • What areas do you service?
We Service San Antonio and surrounding areas. San Antonio, Schertz, Cibolo, New Braunfels, Garden Ridge, Windcrest, Spring Branch, Bulverde.
  • Do you have to be licensed to install sprinklers?
Yes, a state-issued license is required in Texas.
  • Do I have to worry about running over the sprinkler heads with the lawn mower?
No. When installed correctly, the spray heads are level with the ground to avoid damage from lawn mowers.
